L. David Walker is a retired US Army Lieutenant Colonel and Master Aviator with combat aviation command and staff experience at every echelon, around the world. He has served as an Instructor Pilot and Tactics Flight Commander at the US Army Aviation Center and has co-authored aviation doctrine.
During his twenty one year career Walker was posted to the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) as well as the United Nations (UN) senior military staffs in Europe and Haiti. He served as the operations officer (S3) of a forward deployed attack helicopter battalion in West Germany’s Fulda Gap during the Cold War and Executive Officer (XO) of an attack helicopter battalion of the US Rapid Deployment Force (RDF).
Walker holds Bachelor of Business Administration, Master of Business Administration and Master of Political Science degrees and is a graduate of the Command and General Staff College (US Army), Air Command and Staff College (US Air Force) and the Armed Forces Staff College, JPME II (National Defense University) as well.
Walker is a combined arms officer who is a graduate of the Field Artillery Officer Basic and Career Courses, airborne and air assault courses, and is an expert rifle and pistol marksman with many awards and decorations conferred upon him culminating with the Legion of Merit. In addition to US Army Master Aviator wings, Walker has been awarded flight wings by the Republic of South Korea and the Republic of Lebanon.
Walker was on duty in Beirut, Lebanon as an air assault tactics advisor and instructor pilot to the Lebanese Air Force when the 24th Marine Amphibious Unit (MAU) Battalion Landing Team (BLT) was attacked by Hezbollah at 0620 Sunday, 23 October 1983, killing 241 US Marines and US Army soldiers as they slept. Walker served in Panama during Operation Just Cause.
He has language fluency in Spanish, speaks polite German, and has lived and worked abroad for over 30 years. He currently resides in Jomtien Beach, Thailand located on the shores of the Bight of Bangkok.
